The American Redbud is one of the earliest and most dramatic spring-blooming trees in North America. Clusters of vivid lavender-pink to magenta flowers emerge directly from the bark along branches and even the trunk, creating a stunning display before the heart-shaped leaves unfurl. Foliage matures to lush dark green, then turns soft yellow in autumn. Its graceful, vase-shaped habit makes it equally at home as a specimen tree, woodland edge planting, or understory accent. Native across the eastern U.S., it is tough, adaptable, and an early nectar source critical for emerging pollinators. Focus on good establishment and mulching rather than heavy fertilizer.
