Lilikoʻi is the Hawaiian name for yellow passionfruit (P. edulis f. flavicarpa), deeply established in island agriculture and cuisine. Larger fruit than the purple form, with bright, intensely aromatic pulp that defines tropical cooking — juices, desserts, sauces, and curd. A vigorous vine in warm climates. Self-compatibility in passionfruit is variety-dependent: a second compatible vine and hand-pollination are recommended for reliable fruit set, particularly where large native pollinators are absent.
