Waimanalo (X-77) is a Solo-type papaya developed by the University of Hawaiʻi. Yellow-fleshed fruit weighing 22–32 ounces — larger than the common Sunrise variety — with sweet, smooth eating quality. Bears fruit low on the trunk initially, making it practical for container growing and small spaces. Like all papayas, Waimanalo is frost-sensitive and needs warm, protected conditions or indoor overwintering outside the tropics.
