Violette De Bordeaux (also called Negronne) is the fig for growers who thought figs were only for warm climates. This French heirloom is among the coldest-hardy figs, surviving Zone 7 winters with winter protection. Compact growth habit suits containers or small spaces. Small 1–1.5" fruit with deep purple skin and strawberry-red flesh — incredibly sweet, jammy, and rich. Two crops: early breba crop in June, main crop July–September. Once established, extremely low-maintenance.
